ERNEST COMPTA LLINÀS
I am a figurative painter with a background in architecture. I live and work in Barcelona. My work focuses on the human figure and its ability to express emotional states. Through simplified and distorted forms, I explore vulnerability, distance, solitude, and the tension that can exist behind a gesture or a gaze. I work mainly with acrylic on paper and canvas. My process is direct and intuitive, and music is a constant part of it. My work has been exhibited and published internationally and has received several awards and recognitions.
THE PROCESS
Music is an important part of my creative process. It helps me stop overthinking and work in a more intuitive way.
I don't aim to portray specific people. I use the human figure to explore emotions and psychological states, leaving space for each viewer to find their own interpretation.
I paint directly, allowing the work to change as the process unfolds. Distortion, simplification and gesture emerge naturally while I work.
